Hello, Parents and Students, and welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!
My name is Mrs. Paine, and I am very excited to start the new school year with you! We will all be learning so much and having fun too, whether we are learning at home or in the classroom. This year is the start of my 24th year at Rio Vista. I live in Placentia with my husband and we have 3 boys and a new puppy.
I want to take this time to give you some important information for the start of school on Tuesday. First, a caution: since we are all online, please expect our technology to fail us at times. It has happened in the past and will continue to happen. Stay calm. If Zoom isn’t working on the first day, send me an email message or a message on Remind and have your child work on iReady lessons until they can join the class on Zoom. Your child should also click on the Google Classroom tile on their CLEVER dashboard before Tuesday and find our class. They have already been added to our class (“Mrs. Paine - 1st Grade”).
When getting onto Zoom, students must first log in to CLEVER using the QR code or username/password provided in their materials (first page of the RED Toolbox folder) you will pick up at Rio Vista on Monday. They then click on the Zoom tile. This ensures that they are using their PYLUSD student accounts. Try this before our first day of school.

Another way I would like to communicate this year is through the Remind app. Please join our class Remind by texting @mrspaine1 to 81010. If you have an Instagram account, please follow our page: @mrs.paine_class. I post photos of what we’re doing and learning, along with announcements and information, all year. We are private, so if you request to follow our class IG, please send me an email or Remind message so I can recognize and accept your request.
I know this is a lot of information! I have high expectations for your child and know they will be successful if we are a team all year. Thank you for your time. I am very excited to meet your child on Zoom this Tuesday morning at 8:20! We are all in this together and we are better together!
